Fae, Fie, Fünf

Fae, Fie, Fünf is a reflection on sameness and discontent inspired by the poem "Where I Come from Every House is a House with an Obstructed View" by Paige Lewis. The piece aims to build evocative textures and find meaning in a collection of similar extended techniques that accentuate the natural resonances of the saxophone.

Multiphonics, harmonics through overblowing, windtones, and slap tongue gestures are organized to examine the subtleties of each sound and how each can be used in conjunction with one another. The title, "Fae, Fie, Fünf," is a grouping of similar sounds in words that mean more individually than they do together.
